Power cable - assemblage of two or more electrical conductors

A power cable happens to be an assemblage of two or more electrical conductors, generally held along with an overall sheath. The very assembly is used for the job of transmission of electrical power. Nevertheless power cables may be installed in the form stable wiring within buildings, buried in the ground, run overhead, or exposed. It is to be noted that flexible power cables, these days, are used for portable devices, mobile tools and machinery.
At the moment, modern power cables do appear in a range of sizes, materials, and types, each particularly adapted to its uses. It must be stated that big single insulated conductors are also called power cables in the industry. Power cable consists of three major components and these are conductors, insulation, protective jacket.
The makeup of individual cables varies in accordance with application. Both construction and material are decided by three main factors. These include working voltage, determining the thickness of the insulation; Current-carrying capacity, determining the cross-sectional size;  environmental conditions like temperature, water, chemical or sunlight exposure, and mechanical impact, determining the form and composition of the outer cable jacket.
Power cables do make use of stranded copper or aluminum conductors, even though small power cables may use solid conductors. The cable may contain uninsulated conductors used for the circuit neutral or for ground (earth) connection.
On the other hand special purpose power cable for overhead or vertical use may have additional elements such as steel or Kevlar structural supports.
